If you’ve landed on this page, you’ve probably already read the short version of who I am on the homepage: Melbourne-based, working at the AFL, previously at Apple, finishing an HR degree along the way. This is the slightly longer version — mostly an explanation of why this site exists at all.

I’m interested in a fairly specific thing: what makes organisations work. Not the org chart or the strategy deck, but the quieter stuff — how a place feels to work inside, how it treats its people, how it shows up to everyone outside it. I’ve now worked inside two organisations that take that seriously, in two very different industries, and the contrast between getting it right and getting it wrong has stuck with me more than almost anything else about either job.

So this is where I’ll think about that out loud. Some posts will be about culture and people and the work of building good teams. Some will be about sport and media, because those are the worlds I find most interesting and they happen to be where a lot of this plays out in public. And some will just be me working through an idea I haven’t fully landed yet — writing tends to be how I figure out what I actually think.

I’m early in all of this. I don’t expect to be right about everything, and I’d rather post something honest and unfinished than wait until I sound certain. If something here is useful, or wrong, or worth arguing about, I’d like to hear it.
